OrcaSlicer to Bambu Studio
Yes. OrcaSlicer is a Bambu Studio fork, so a converted file keeps its plates, filaments, modifiers, paint and layer ranges. Settings only OrcaSlicer has are dropped.
Why won't Bambu Studio load my OrcaSlicer settings?
Bambu Studio trusts a project only when it carries a BambuStudio- stamp. A
converted file is stamped for the printer you pick, so it opens with its
settings. A single-nozzle Orca project does not trip the invalid-config check.
A multi-nozzle one can, with The 3mf file has invalid config, load geometry data only. See Bambu Studio says invalid config.
What carries over from OrcaSlicer to Bambu Studio?
- Plates and filaments: every plate and every filament, with no cap.
- Modifiers and negative volumes: kept as they were, same grammar.
- Paint: colour, supports, seams and fuzzy skin keep the same spelling and arrive byte for byte.
- Layer ranges: carried as written.
- Part settings: object names and part blocks carry, and each setting is translated key by key.
Which Bambu Studio settings open at default?
About 151 Bambu Studio keys get no value from an Orca file, for example
apply_scarf_seam_on_circles.
Each takes the value from the Bambu Lab printer profile you chose, or Bambu
Studio's own default where that profile sets nothing.
What shows in the Notes table?
Only the shared rows: Placement when the bed size is unknown, and
Settings on <object> when a part's mesh is missing. See
what a conversion cannot carry.
Can I go back?
Yes. See Bambu Studio to OrcaSlicer.
