What a conversion cannot carry

Every loss shows as a row in the Notes table. Nothing is dropped silently.

What if the target has no matching profile?

When the target slicer has no profile for your printer, nozzle or filament, the closest one stands in. Check its temperatures and widths before printing.

How many filaments and plates carry over?

Target Filaments Plates
Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer, Creality Print all all
PrusaSlicer all, or one per tool on a multi-tool printer up to 9
Cura one per extruder all; the one you pick sits on the bed, the rest beside it

What if the printer has fewer tools than the file has filaments?

Convert still runs. It keeps the filaments the model uses and sends each extra one to a kept slot of the same material, then the nearest colour.

Under Change filament, each row shows the slot it prints on. Pick the same filament in two rows to print them from one slot.

Without a pinned printer, PrusaSlicer and Cura pick one with enough tools.

Saved print settings for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer and Creality Print add filament slots to match the file. Each new slot copies the one with the same material, or slot 1 otherwise, takes its temperatures from a matching entry in My filaments, uses the file's colour, and leaves flush volumes to the slicer. PrusaSlicer and Cura print settings need a printer with as many extruders instead.

What does Auto match do?

It picks a filament from My filaments for every slot: same diameter, then same material, then nearest colour. It replaces picks you made by hand, and it needs at least one saved filament.

Filaments are skipped, and named under the rows, when they lack a nozzle or bed temperature, have the wrong diameter, need a hardened nozzle, need a hotter bed than yours, or use a material the saved print settings don't have.

What does a saved filament set?

A filament from My filaments sets its temperatures, flow ratio, max volumetric speed, diameter and colour in its own slot only, over the profile's. The bed temperature goes to the plate you picked. A calibration for that filament overrides all of them.

Do modifiers and paint carry over?

Modifiers, negative volumes and support blockers carry between PrusaSlicer, Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer and Creality Print. Cura drops them, and it does not read painted colours.

Does my filament-to-nozzle map carry over?

Only to a printer with as many nozzles. The map sends each filament to a named nozzle, so on a single-nozzle printer there is nowhere to send it and it does not carry. Colour is unaffected: a printer with one nozzle and a multi-filament unit still prints every colour you picked.

Your slicer writes this map on its own unless you set it by hand. Only a map you set gets a Notes row.

Do part settings and layer ranges carry over?

Object settings carry into every slicer but Cura, translated key by key. Cura drops them, and the Notes table counts them. Part settings carry between Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer and Creality Print. PrusaSlicer and Cura drop them, with no Notes row. Layer ranges carry between Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer and Creality Print only. Add what is dropped again in the target slicer.

Converting with a saved print settings record is stricter: only the same slicer keeps a file's part settings. Another slicer drops them and counts how many in the Notes table. Cura print settings cannot be applied yet.

Do calibration values carry over?

A slicer that has no setting for a value skips it. Bambu Studio, PrusaSlicer and Cura have no pressure advance setting in the file; it is OrcaSlicer's own field.

Does converting change my geometry?

Only when the source file comes from Cura. Cura saves each triangle with its own three vertices, so most slicers can't open it. Converting from Cura merges those vertices so the target can read the mesh.
